Excellent to see the progress. Time to drum up a storm! I'm still distilling my ideas so to be clear and intouch with where everyone is at. Very soon I will release a mini-challenge to get people ready for the bigger ones! Take care everyone.

Sounds good Matt! I'm working on my split-finger technique and focusing on playing Maqsoum in different ways. That requires lots of repetition. I like this kind of practice.. My focus is finger strength and rhythmic understanding. Up for any challenge though! cheers! Also, sorry for my "cok lavash" typo in a previous message - I meant "çok yavaş" - need to study my Turkish more too apparently! eeeek!

Hello guys! Thanks for the sharing Darbukaddict I was just discovering the new videos beginning with Maksum rythm ,Nice job ,Matt. (The drum looks like an Emin) When watching the video i just .notice i forgot to use the 3K along my Masksum Rythm. I worked a lot reproducing the 2mn 20sec of the Maksum démo from a video of Faizal Zedan, his 1rst Dvd,succeeded to memorize it on my minds and playing without sheets but after not practising it for month,s i now need the sheets With Savass Darbuka, take care about it as some baby drop mine with his bag and it broke,i fix with some glue. I didnt get pissed as the way the baby run to grab the drum and shout Darbuka was so funny as he didnt know how to talk at this time (4-5 years ago) except a few words Talking about improving turkish style , i used to practice the Maksum with 16 toks with the 4 fingers (starting by the little, ring ,strong ans index (repeat))from left hand, a way to strenghten the 4 fingers and when playing the 16tok Maksum with 2 fingers from left hand(index+strong), sounds "piece of cake with 2 than 4 fingers To get used to metronom,i used to tap with my left foot since 1 year playing 4/4 rythms and emphase the clock with 4 left fingers (little to index) And since a few months while im wallking in the street, i count on my minds 4 tok and Walk ,emphasing each tok by one feet alternating to other ,while doing the same with 4 fingers from left and right (may sound confusing but a good way to get used to have a clock on ur minds) 1 left foot is stepping while little finger of each hand is pressed against thumb 2 right foot is stepping while each index is presse to thumb 3 same but with strong fingers 4 same but with index fingers Once u get used to it,do it again but with some music and count 1 to 4... A way to get used to the clock and strenghten all ur 8 fingers. Cheers

Sounds hard to make a video as i dont know how to use youtube to publish them Here is an email fta9210@yahoo.fr where u can ask all your questions and i will try to describe it the most clear i could. Or sending u pics to describe it I forgot to write that b4 this walking (advanced level) exercice ,there were a few at the beginning,i used to practice a few years a go such when sitting on train/metro i used to just squeeze upon my left thumb,Little finger+index finger+strong finger+index finger Once quiet familiar ,i switch with right hand. Once familiar with both hands ,both at same time Then from left to right,or right to left.. Then add the foot kick Then try with other foot (i didnt think first years i will succeed to play 4/4 rythm darbuka when using the foot as metronom as it sounded so difficult ..... U cant go straight with this walking exercice without doing/mastering the ones above Answer is patience as it take weeks or months from one exercice to another one.

You are a genius Joe_From_Paris. I heard that people who are both right and left handed at the same time are genius. I will send you a mail for clarifications on your practice techniques. Happy drumming.

Hey Joe_From_Paris, Nice to see you again! Hey, you can always just do what Dabukaaddict has done and upload a private video to YouTube; then simply share the link here in the forum. Too easy!
