Hey drummers, Lovely hearing from some old students and a few newbies also. Don't forget to say hi in the forum so we know who is 'out there.' Don't be shy! I have just uploaded four new videos to the Drum Dojo- these are very cool topics so please go and check them all out. Happy practicing my friends;)

Awesome - going to check out the "left-hand" workout now. My split fingers are weak at the moment so looking forward to watching it, and the others as well.

@Darbukaaddict- I'm not sure if this forum software allows for videos to be posted but I'll endeavor to find out. If not- you could upload to YouTube and set it to Private; then simply include the link here.

Thank you Matt. I think uploading through youtube and share the link is better. :)

Hello, i ve watched the Back to the basics KA 4 times and all at least twice. Thanks for the reminder Matt, "grabbing computer mouse" position, "catching flies", i ve been told, a pen should fit ("pyramid "position ) between your thumb and index too and lost the right position/striking,, little by little (without noticing it until i saw it on youtube video (the reason ive deleted some))and get back to right position since. a few days Main issue is i kept my elbow up instead of laying it on the darbuka too.

@Joe_From_Paris - we all need to go back to the basics regularly i think. It's about making sure we are traveling in the direction we want to be! I've been revisiting some old technique drills from ten years aga and bringing them back into my regular practice sessions; I'll share them soon in a new video. Hope everyone is doing well and taking care during this period.

Hi Dojo-ists. Hope you're all safe, well and enjoying your drumming. I'm just loving the joining rhythms exercise. It really helps keep me sharp and it's great fun. It also helps me run through some of the rhythms I've been playing less often. It's theraputic too. I'm finding I'm thinking differently about how I play each rhythm so I'm exploring them more. Cheers. :-)

That's great Ali G. I've always thought it was a wonderful practice drill so glad you enjoyed it also. Try doing it with just odd-times. Great for the mind that needs some focus!

Thanks Matt. Will do. I've just watched the Back to Basics Ka video. It's a great reminder and what a simple method of making sure the top hand is in the right place. I'm relieved to know I haven't slipped into those bad habits thought I'm sure it would be easy to. I practise with a mirror to help me stop slouching and now I'll pay special attention to making sure I'm doing the ka properly, especially now I'm trying to increase my power and speed with triplets. I think it's important to revise the basics regularly to make sure I'm on the right track. I recommend everyone checks out these back to basics videos regardless of how long they've been playing. Matt, it would be great to see back to basics videos for all the main hits. Cheers.
